An Interview with Dr.Chen-Yang Shen , CEO of Taiwan Biobank: Foundation Construction of Future Medical Science

Since ancient times, mankind has been yearning for immortality, as medical science progresses, we can now get a glimpse of the causes of certain diseases through genes for prevention purpose, but some chronic diseases or common diseases require a lot of genetic data to interpret. In consideration of this, many countries have been pursuing on a Biobank program to collect tens of thousands of genetic information for large-scale cross-generational research that will not only improve disease management and prevention strategies but also reduce health care costs. At present, Taiwan is actively establishing a local biobank, and GeneOnline is proud to interview Professor Chen-Yang Shen (沈志陽), the CEO of Taiwan Biobank, to talk about the importance of biobank and the mentality of initiating the project.
