英國動物學家 Lancelot Hogben（1895年12月09日 – 1975年08月22日）發展非洲爪蛙 (Xenopus laevis) 為基因研究最熱門的模式生物之一；目前金蛙已被用以闡明DNA複製、校對、和修復機制，以及胚胎發展各階段的基因表現等等，對基因研究有卓著的貢獻。而他不只在生物學界的影響重大，同時也出版了許多普遍流傳的著作（e.g.Mathematics for the Million, Science for the Citizen），研究領域跨越科學、數學及語言。
