中国华大基因深圳分部的研究团队宣布发现西藏人适应高海拔气候的 EPAS1 基因，并证实这项基因应该是来自丹尼索瓦人 (Denisovan)。丹尼索瓦人是在 4-5 万年前与现代人共同存在的人类物种，不过后来与尼安德塔人 (Homo sapiens neanderthalensis) 同样灭绝。
