英国动物学家 Lancelot Hogben（1895年12月09日 – 1975年08月22日）发展非洲爪蛙 (Xenopus laevis) 为基因研究最热门的模式生物之一；目前金蛙已被用以阐明DNA复制、校对、和修复机制，以及胚胎发展各阶段的基因表现等等，对基因研究有卓著的贡献。而他不只在生物学界的影响重大，同时也出版了许多普遍流传的著作（e.g.Mathematics for the Million, Science for the Citizen），研究领域跨越科学、数学及语言。
